It felt like Annie Spence thought that her status as a librarian, lover of books, and keeper of lists made her unique and now she’s making money off of a cute little book. Now I’ll post it on my blog and maybe a few people will read it and chuckle, but I certainly can’t monetize this list I just made.” I LOVE making lists and organizing things and gushing (or not) about things other people might not care about, but I don’t think that makes me special. I could see myself writing something like this and thinking, “Wow, OK I’m glad I got that off my chest. While I saw some value in the writing and the structure of the book, it really just felt…masturbatory. Turns out, a lot can go wrong when the book you’ve chosen just isn’t that good. YCRWU read “Dear Fahrenheit 451: Love and Heartbreak in the Stacks” by Annie Spence for February because the title and description of the book indicated somewhat of a “love” theme intended for book lovers.
